CLASSES Spending much of her life working in the art world, Barbara has developed a passion for not only creating her own artwork, but inspiring others to do the same. A former Advertising Art Director and Marketing Communications Manager, she has a unique skill set for presenting simplified methods for learning to draw and paint. She credits her own success as an artist to gaining a strong foundation in drawing skills, and encourages beginning artists to always start with drawing classes before painting.

Marietta, GA 30067 678-755-1079 www.theartschoolinsandysprings.com Landscapes & Still Life in Pastel Drop-in classes are planned for the following Thursdays: May 6, 13, 20, July 1, 8, 15, Aug. 5, 12 & 19 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Ideal for artists new to pastel or experienced pastel artists looking to increase their skills. The first hour of each class will begin with a demonstration, focusing on a particular skill or topic. Students will use the remainder of the class time to apply the day's study to their own painting. Students will be encouraged to work from their own landscape photos or still life props. However, most of the summer classes will likely focus on landscapes. Instructor will update students before each class regarding subject matter. Drawing experience recommended for beginner students. Instructor will e-mail interested students 2 days before each drop-in class to request a head count of attendees. A 3-student minimum required to hold each drop-in class. Supports will include sanded pastel paper, Pastelbord, Hardbord and Gatorfoam board. Instructor will supply some of the materials, so if you’ve hesitated to give these techniques a try, or just want to dedicate a couple of days to playing around with the techniques, just come supplied with pastels, supports, reference photos, and a few other basic supplies you probably already have. Instructor will demonstrate techniques working from landscape photos. Geared toward artists with at least some pastel experience.
